WELCOME TO KILLINGTONFood, like smiles and music, is one of the universal languages of the world. Great food nourishes our body and soul, knits people together, and restores our sense of calm, purpose and connection to the world. Great food is therefore memorable, taking its place among those special moments of our lives. The wonderful recipes you will find in Tastes of Killington are here to feed your body and soul. They are the culmination of years of thought, experiment and often the willingness to take a risk--all of the elements of the creative process, which is alive and well in Vermont and especially in Killington. The Killington area has been welcoming visitors for years--a record 23,000 skier day visits were recorded at the Killington Ski Resort alone last year. So many of these people are returning guests, and through their continued presence have made a valuable contribution to the region. Our community thrives on the intimacy that comes not just from the people who live in town, but from welcoming back visitors who have become an intricate part of the fabric of our lives. We invite you to contact the owners and chefs of the restaurants in this book as you try out their recipes. Send them your questions and thoughtful comments, which will not only tell them how they are doing, but will help them steer the course. We are so pleased to be able to present you all with this book, which is a compilation of ideas fresh off the mountain. Eating well is not only satisfying, it is an essential part of life--please join us in celebrating the spirit of Killington.
